EU CPR 2024/3110: What Sealant Importers Must Know in 2026
Since 8 January 2026, the revised Construction Products Regulation (EU) 2024/3110 has been fully applicable across the EU, replacing the old CPR 305/2011. For sealant importers and distributors selling into Europe, EU CPR sealant compliance is no longer a “next year” issue — it is the rule your shipments must already meet. Here is what changed and how to verify your supply chain.
1. The New CPR Is Now Fully in Force
Regulation 2024/3110 entered into force on 7 January 2025; the general application date was 8 January 2026. CE marking under the harmonised system remains mandatory for construction sealants covered by a harmonised European standard — for joint sealants that means EN 15651 (Parts 1-4), covering facade, glazing, sanitary and floor joints.
2. CE Marking + DoP: Still the Core
Importers still need a valid Declaration of Performance (DoP) for each CE-marked product. The DoP links the product to its performance values: movement capability (class 25/50), tensile adhesion, UV resistance and watertightness. Check that your supplier’s DoP matches the batch you receive — mismatch is a common customs and market-surveillance finding.
3. Digital Product Passport Is Coming
The revised CPR introduces the Digital Product Passport (DPP), rolled out progressively. Importers should already collect structured performance data (EN 15651 class, test reports, batch traceability) so the DPP can be populated without re-testing. Suppliers with complete technical files today will switch over with minimal friction.
4. What to Verify Before Your Next Order
Ask your manufacturer for: (1) a current CE certificate and DoP per SKU, (2) EN 15651 classification for every product line, (3) batch-specific QC data, and (4) a plan for DPP data readiness. If a factory cannot produce these documents, your EU shipment may be stopped at customs — or worse, flagged by market surveillance.
