How to Compare Sealant Quotes: Price Isn’t Everything

The lowest quote is rarely the cheapest. When distributors compare sealant quotes side by side, the unit price often hides what the product will actually cost you after testing, rework and rejected batches. This guide shows how to compare sealant quotes beyond the price column — and what separates a reliable supplier from a bargain.

1. Check the Specification, Not Just the Price
Two tubes may look identical but perform very differently. Compare the declared standard (GB 16776, ISO 11600, ASTM C920), movement class, tensile strength and adhesion range. A quote that saves $0.30 per cartridge but fails on modulus will cost you ten times that in site rework.
2. Ask What the Price Includes
Is the quote FOB, CIF or DDP? Does it include carton design, private-label printing, palletizing and export documentation? Ask for a full cost breakdown — some suppliers quote low, then add charges at every step. A transparent quote lists every line item before you sign.

3. Verify Batch Consistency
Cheap sealant often comes from inconsistent batches: colour shifts, curing-time drift or adhesion failures on site. Ask for batch test reports and a reference sample from the same production run. A serious manufacturer will send both without hesitation.
4. Compare the Total Cost of Ownership
Total cost = unit price + testing + freight + rework risk + customer complaints. A mid-price supplier with stable quality and fast documentation is almost always the better deal. Our distributors consistently find that reliability beats a few cents per cartridge.

5. Test Before You Commit
Order a small trial batch first. Test adhesion, curing time and tooling behaviour on your own substrates. If the supplier hesitates to provide samples or test data, treat that as a red flag.
